The Greek Villa Kerylos
The Villa Kerylos, is located within 600m from the Hotel Frisia and it's open every day of the year.
The architect Emmanuel Pontremoli designed the villa between 1902 and 1908.
However, this house is above all the realization of a dream of an archaeologist fascinated by Greek civilization, Theodore Reinach.
The Villa consists of the most precious materials: antique stucco, marble from Carrara and Sienna and exotic wood for the furniture.
Fully furnished, it contains all the refinement of the decoration of ancient Greek palace mosaics and frescoes inspired by ancient documents. Wall mural paintings depict various legends of gods and classic heroes.
Go back in time to discover a luxurious palace on the shores of the Mediterranean and enter the world of a wealthy Greek ship-owner from the second century BC, with all its rooms, furniture, frescoes, mosaics, etc. thanks to an exciting audio guide to take you through your visit.
Far from a pastiche, for Théodore Reinach and Emmanuel Pontremoli it was about creating an original piece of work while "thinking Greek". The house subtly combines ancient luxury with the modern comfort of Belle Epoque villas.
The villa is organised around a peristyle with a large inner courtyard surrounded by 12 columns in Carrara marble. On the ground floor are the state rooms, while the bedrooms and bathrooms are located upstairs.t
